I used the 1823 painting titled "Sea of Ice(Arctic Shipwreck)"
by Casper David Friedrich as a model and created a three dimensional
replica of it in blue Styrofoam. In many ways this is a reversal
of the painting process; translating a flattened image back
into three dimensions required me to continually look at the
painting and imagine the space described by the painting. |
